A Beautiful Affair (ABS-CBN): Kabanata/Episode 43

Kabanata 43

Episode 43
In this episode, Carlotta continues in storytelling mode, narrating every bad event that has happened in her life after separating from her son in Agusan. After successfully escaping her father’s grasps again, she sis forced to deal with the harsh realities of life just so she could get back to her son. She gets addicted to drugs and goes around with men, selling her flesh. She ends up in prison where she meets Rex, the leader of WoL who gives a new meaning to her life. But Rex would violate her over and over again. She loses her confidence on the organization and vows revenge on everyone. It would then be Henry’s turn to narrate his past. It turns out that his grandfather was a friend of Arturo Pierro and Stephen Saavedra, and the two would cheat him of his land which he has named Lucia. In the end, he confesses to Carlotta that it was him who had Gen’s parents killed, and that he is not yet done with his revenge.

There is something or someone lacking in this episode. Charo Santos Concio. Maalaala Mo Kaya? The whole episode dealt with nothing else other than Carlotta and Henry’s misfortunes in life. And it really had to be the two of them who end up together, both promising revenge. The way things are going lately it could be foreseen that Henry would become the ultimate bad guy here once Carlotta comes to her senses. Thinking about it, the connections between the characters is actually well thought of. Perhaps it is the way of presenting it which the people behind this show got wrong. It is just that, the revelations come in bulk! During the first ten days we get used to the light love story being the focus of everything. Now, there has been a significant backlog of what needs to be revealed, and everything is dropped in front of the audience in one fell swoop. May this be the sign we are waiting for of good things to come for the next episodes, now that everything is much clearer.
