Pioneered by Jealousy, Driven by Obsession

Março 18– 24

Pioneered by Jealousy, Driven by Obsession

Soundtrack of the Week ß Beyoncé tigilan mo na ako edition
  1. Imprescindible [BEYONCé]
  2. I’m a Bitch, I’m a Lover [CROW]
  3. Irreplaceable [BEYONCé]
  4. Helena [MCR]
  5. Listen [BEYONCé]
Movie of the Week: Wag Kang Lilingon
Jealousy as an Anchor: Wala lang kasi have you ever used jealousy as a motivation to pursue something? Ako kasi oo. Two scenarios: when a cousin started learning a foreign language I started learning as well; when a classmate started looking for a part-time job in a call center I started looking as well. What started as what I maliciously perceive as “competition” then became an obsession. Not that it has any bad effects in my life, in fact it has been beneficial for me. I am learning languages now and working part-time, earning while working on having a degree. In short benefit pa nga. The question is it is right to use jealousy or competition to initiate something. Ang sagot ko dito is YES. Siguro context-dependent siya (natutunan sa 178, hahaha) para kasi sa mga taong kagaya ko na araw araw e nagbabago ang goals in life, maybe it is effective to do so. Since I have no stable goals in life maybe this could be the key to help me shape the policies (naks naman formal-formalan, o sige GOALS na lang) that I have to apply in life. Syempre may limitations din naman. One can’t depend on competition alone and also the thought lingers, sino ang kukumpetensiyahin mo? Conclusion: use it for primary motivation but not for sustaining your goals. Swak na swak for people like me. WARNING: may not be applicable to others.

Academics: Natapos na ang classes nung Friday. Grabe ang bilis ng araw! Medyo ma drama yung ending ng Wednesday class namin about Southeast Asia. May kaklase pa nga ako na napaluha. Kahit na madugo ang report sa class na yun masasabi ko na favorite ko talaga yun for this semester and the experience, walang kapantay.

Alam niyo sa buhay na ito we only need a JOB to survive. CAREER is needed just for the sake of contentment. So para sa mga taong kagaya ko na walang urgent ambition to be happy, kuntento na kami dito no so fuck off na lang ang mga impokritong akala mo kung sino mga magsi isip. Ano bang pakialam ninyo. I could say that this job is stable naman. I only have half the work load of a full time English speaking agent but I earn as much as they do. And for the very last time ie explain ko kung bakit ako nagtatrabaho dito. This call center is the only one I know that has Brazilian Portuguese accounts, sa iba wala. On the other hand while languages such as Spanish, French, German and Italian have their own institutes here in the Philippines (Instituto Cervantes, Alliance Française, Goethe Institut and Societa Dante Alighieri, respectively) ang Portuguese wala. Ang pinakamalapit na Intituto Camões ay nasa Jakarta, so what do you suggest sa Indonesia na ako tumira? I could enroll myself in the institutions mentioned pero for Portuguese wala. So yun, naa acquire mo ang language ikaw pa binabayaran. Yun na yun, so shut up na, ok!

Walang Kapalit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4swHuOq92Y See the youtube trailer before they toss it out! Mukhang maganda! Hehehe, telenovela addiction na naman ito. Fan kasi ako ng Milan e but not necessarily of Claudine and Piolo, lol. Sabi nila ripoff daw ito ng Devil Beside You ng Taiwan, let’s wait and see.

Ewan ko, ito ang future goal of the day, lol.

One Dream Can Change Everything

Março 11– 17
One Dream Can Change Everything

Soundtrack of the Week ß Beyoncé overload edition
  1. One Night Only [BEYONCé]
  2. Listen [BEYONCé]
  3. Irreplaceable [BEYONCé]
  4. Dreamgirls [BEYONCé/ANIKA/JHUD]
  5. Deja Vu [BEYONCé]
Movie of the Week: Dreamgirls
Another thing is that hindi maganda yung transition sa pagkanta. Nag aaway tapos biglang kakanta. Nagda drama tapos biglang kakanta. Not that it’s horrible, maganda nga kaso parang nasobrahan.
  • Ito ang tipo ng palabas na pwede mong ulit ulitin from the top all over again one more time, as in paulit ulit.
  • Ang corny nung We are Family musical performance, yung nag drama si Effie ng WHAT ABOUT ME? Parang ang cheesy masyado pero nabawi naman dun sa pre – And I am Telling You I’m not Going musical performance, yung nag away away sila pero kumakanta, galing, lol.
  • Ang galing galing ni JHud KUMANTA. I still stick to my theory that if you strip the movie of all of JHud’s musical performances, pagtagpi tagpiin lahat ng PURE ACTING scenes niya na wala pa yatang 10 minutes, tapos itapat mo sa Freakout Confrontation scene ni Cate Blanchett with Judi Dench sa Notes on a Scandal or to any of Rinko Kikuchi’s acting chops sa Babel, parang no contest si JHud. Pero magaling ang MUSICAL PERFORMANCES ni JHud, she didn’t feel the urge to OVERSING gaya ng ginawa niya nung Oscars night, ang galing niya kumanta. The problem is that the awards she got are for Best Performance by a Supporting ACTRESS, hindi by a SINGER or a DANCER, lol. So ang masasabi ko lang kay JHud, hold on to that Oscar statuette because I bet you won’t get another one UNLESS you improve on your ACTING skills or you land another Effie White role, which is very unlikely.
No comment on Eddie M.
  • Beyoncé was ok but I think she’d be better off singing to the left to the left than acting to the right to the right, leche ang corny ko. I just wonder how she feels. Feeling niya siguro ito na finally ang big break to successfully crossover (parang namatay e no, lol) to acting e kaso natabunan siya ni JHud. Naghampasan na ba sila ng mic or nagsabunutan? Hehehe.
  • I was actually surprised that I liked the movie despite the bitter anti-JHud sentiment! Not as spectacular-spectacular as Moulin Rouge, not as Oscar worthy as Chicago pero magandang palabas! Panoorin niyo!
  • If you don’t buy the soundtrack, the experience won’t be complete. Buy na!
Academics: Hell week na naman po. Last twoo weeks na lang pero dahil parang hinihila ang araw e parang last two minutes ng absketball game! In two weeks it’s all over and I will be free for another two weeks bago mag Go-Fight ulit.

Natatakot na ako sumagot ng phones ngayon after almost one month of confining myself to e-mails and chats. Humingi ng change of schedule for this summer na araw araw.

About Zeke and Dionne, nakakaaliw sila panoorin, parang romantic movie pero may boyfriend yung babae di ba? No more comments...

Soundtrack of the Week
  1. Irreplaceable [BEYONCé] ß LSS to the nth level...
  2. Wonderful World [MORRISON]
  3. Chingu [LEE DG]
  4. The Sweet Escape [STEFANI]
  5. Magbalik [CALLALILY]
Movie of the Week: Notes on a Scandal
  • Documentary kung paano manira ng buhay at mang iskandalo ng kapwa hosted by Barbara portrayed by Dame Judi Dench, lol. Hanep ang diary collection, nakalinya sa shelf at labeled ba complete with gold stars!
Judi Dench’s malicious stares would suffice to keep you at the edge of your seats. At siyempre kahit medyo overkill ang score kapag panic mode ang mga characters (as in ang lakas) effective naman.
  • Cate Blanchett’s freakout confrontation scene with Judi Dench at the near end of the movie is more than enough for her to have won the Oscar. I haven’t seen Dreamgirls yet but I have this theory that if you remove all of JHud’s musical performances in that film, collect all her pure ACTING scenes and place it vis-a-vis this single Cate Blanchett moment then it would be clear who should have won. Hehehe bitter-bitter-an mode.
  • Hanep ang mga lines sa movie na ito, raw and in your face talaga. Reminds me of the lines in Closer pero milder version, lol. At ang mga profanity talagang no holds barred mga tipong: “He is fucking fifteeeeen!” “You are not Virginia fucking Woooolf!” at siyempre ang quotable quote ni Sheba: “He’s quite matured for his age.”
  • Judi Dench’s performance was also a force to reckon with and I would have wanted her to win but I think it is clear that Mirren had the jucier role and I would not bash her (MIRREN) because there is a concensus that she CAN ACT and do it well and I believe in that.
  • Dame Judi’s Barbara character reminded me of a milder but feminine Hannibal.
Would you believe na two weeks na lang? 2 weeks vacation then sabak again!

May bitbit siyang camera man at mic man. Sabi niya sabihin ko raw MYX SPACE VOTE SPACE TITLE OF THE SONG. Well ano pang magagawa ko.

Work: Bumalik na rin ako sa phones this week, trying to balance between chat and calls.

If to have Makeover, how? Hahaha, funny topic. Anyway my face is my father’s; my mother only gave me two facial features that she could claim as hers: the brown eyes and the Gollum teeth. When I talk to people up close and maintain eye contact some of them would ask: “Naka contacts ka ba?” Maybe it could be blamed as the reason why I don’t smile a lot or maybe the reason is that there simply is nothing to smile about, mas logical. I therefore conclude na kapag nagpa makeover ako, ipapatastas ko lahat ng ngipin ko! Hahaha! Good side nun lagi akong sinasabihan sa school dental check-up na mukha raw instik yung ngipin ko, teka nga considered good ba yun? Dying your hair with a radical color is like having a sex video. People will talk about it, hindi nila yun palalampasin at ipapamukha nila sa yo yun araw araw lalo pa’t nakikita nila ang ebidensiya. Hahaha, false analogy ata, whatever. Shet I’m talking non-sense.

  5. Wonderful World [MORRISON]
Movie of the Week: The Breakup
  • No, this is not a documentary about the Brad/Jennifer breakup and no, Vince Vaughn is not playing Brad Pitt.

After Eddie Murphy lost Best Supporting Actor for Dreamgirls I was hoping for a Kikuchi/Blanchett upset win over Jennifer Hudson but it didn’t happen. I haven’t seen Dreamgirls yet but I think JHud is overrated. Why does she have to oversing every song she sings? Dreamgirls was nominated for three Oscars in the Original Song category but Inconvenient Truth’s theme song won! This means that at first it might seem that multiple nominations in a category is great but actually not because of vote-splitting. Moral lesson – don’t pray for a multiple nomination in a single category unless you are Catherine Zeta-Jones and the other one is Queen Latifah, hehehe... Pan’s Labyrinth should have won Best Foreign Language Film!

Can’t they just shut up and move on already? E kaso ganun talaga, for ratings sake. Unfortunately the ratings agree – we are indeed a starstruck nation...

Hahaha, siguro kailangan mag ingat.

Tsk tsk.

Almost Done, Moo

Fevereiro 18– 24
Almost Done, Moo

Soundtrack of the Week
  1. Satellite [SANTANA/MORENO]
  2. Just So You Know [MCCARTNEY]
  3. My Eyes Adored You [MILBY/GONZAGA]
  4. Prinsesa [6 CYCLE MIND]
  5. Ju Hua Tai [CHOU]
Movie of the Week: You Got Me
  • SUMMARY: Torpe boy loves girl but never makes a move. Girl loves Torpe boy but waiting for his move. Aggressive Kanto boy forms the love triangle. Yun na yung istorya.
  • I enjoyed it! I therefore conclude that Cathy Garcia Molina is the best RomCom director in the country today!!! Hehehe...
  • Ang ganda ganda ganda nung kulay nung flashback scenes! Film people ano ba ang tawag dun, cinematography? Lighting? Ang sarap sa mata!
  • Don’t judge a book by its cover. Trailers are misleading. Don’t judge a film by its trailer. And no, the rooftop scene is not the climax of the movie.
  • I don’t know if there is any validity to the “Windstruck-ripoff” claim because I have not seen Windstruck yet.
  • Toni Gonzaga was her usual self, nothing new. There is something wrong about her face though, can’t figure out what.
Sana ipambayad niya yung kinikita niya para mag improve ang Filipino niya no. Tolerable in this film.
  • Zanjoe Marudo’s lines made up for his acting inadequacies.
  • Moral lesson 0f the movie: Wag iihi kung saan saan.

Without opening my mouth the vocal cords vibrate creating a MOO-like sound.

Further comments after more episodes.

Language: Borrowed Brazilian Portuguese book in library t0 further improve proficiency sa trabaho. Already getting the gist of Korean grammar. =)

Trying to balance phone with chats.

Walang meetings for two classes, two weeks na. Almost done in the sense na one month na lang bakasyon na! Yipee yahoo! Rest! Rest! Rest!
