COVID Vaccine in Guam for Filipinos - Air V&V Program (Vacation + Vaccination)

Background
Guam just reached their 80% vaccination target late last week, meaning most restrictions here have been lifted except for a mask mandate and social distancing for children in schools. The government has launched a program they refer to as Air V&V (Vacation & Vaccination) as an attempt for their tourism industry to rebound from this pandemic. The program was originally meant for expats in Southeast Asia who don't have access to vaccines but has since been opened to residents of certain countries including South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines among others. Here is their PH Facebook page:

[GUAM] Dolphins and Fish Eye Marine Park

The thing about weekend trips is you don’t really have to preoccupy yourself with too much luggage. With just a backpack, I checked out for the day and headed to Sheraton, one of the pick-up points of the tour service I booked for Fish Eye Marine Park. You can sit on one of the benches in front of the hotel under the shade. Sheraton is also one of the stops of the tram buses that connect the many hotels and shopping areas of Tumon and Tamuning. The bus parked, I hopped in, and we picked up several other passengers in neighboring hotels.

[GUAM] Pacific Brothers from the Same Colonizers

Guam Museum has been the definitive highlight of this trip. I try to stay away from museums as much as I can unless the tidbits of history I am bound to get there are interesting enough. It’s a good thing that the Philippines and Guam have enough common history to amuse me. From the discovery of the islands by the Spaniards all the way to their being ceded to the United States in the aftermath of the Spanish-American War, we can say that these two really shared a parallel history on this side of the Pacific.

[GUAM] An Island of Thieves

As Cebu Pacific started plying the Manila – Guam route for cheap, it wasn’t long until I crossed it off my list but, as usual, it suffered from the so-near-yet-so-far syndrome. With just 3 1/2 hours of flight time from the Philippines and me not having many countries left in the vicinity to visit, the island has become my de facto destination of choice as I aim to flirt once again with the travel bug that just doesn’t thrill me anymore. And so, one boring Thursday afternoon, I decided why not fly tomorrow for a weekend trip?
