A Beautiful Affair (ABS-CBN): Kabanata/Episode 9

Kabanata 9

Episode 9
Leon agrees to collaborate with the authorities in order to catch Yuri’s group. Perhaps thinking that such an operation could endanger his life, it is now his turn to call Gen, but she would not answer because she is also facing dilemmas of her own. She still finds it difficult to accept the death of her parents and she could not find a way to move on with her life. On the other hand, the maid and her accomplice are finally caught. Accompanied by her cousin Harry (Slater Young), she meets the suspects and throws in a physical attack or two to unleash her rage. Despite this, she realizes that no matter what she does, or how long the offenders rot in jail, the fact that her parents are not coming back could no longer be undone. Meanwhile, Leon’s putting his life in danger does not end in vain as those need to be caught are caught, and he and his friend Fred are finally free to come back to the Philippines.

It must be truly difficult to lose one’s parents, and what Gen is currently going through simply reflects the phases undergone by a person that is left behind by the people he or she loves. At this moment, she is still at that stage wherein she insists on denying everything that has happened, hoping that everything is just a bad dream. The change that this would bring forth to the character should be anticipated, and I am hoping that in a few episodes we would get to see a stronger and more courageous Gen. On the other hand, Leon proves how good a friend he is by still helping his friend until the end in spite of all the problems he has given him. On the contrary, Edward’s arrival at the funeral and in Gen’s life holds some mysteries on its own, and it seems as though the audience is still in for a lot of revelations because it appears that he comes with hidden agenda as dictated by his father. Now that Gen is alone, how is she to face all this?
