La Película
Delia está por sucumbir a una enfermedad terminal y le revela a Paulina una lonchera escondida en una pared de su ex-casa la cual puede contener pruebas incriminatorias contra Agustín. Con la ayuda remota de María José los hermanos y Diego arman un plan para infiltrar la casa y recuperar la lonchera dado que la nueva propietaria, una viejita rara que se llama Esperanza (Angélica María), no quiere cooperar. En escenas retrospectivas en los años 80 se revela que Virginia, ya casada con Ernesto y con tres hijos en aquel entonces, planeaba algo similar durante la fiesta de boda de Salo para forzar a Agustín que confesara su asesinato de Pato y grabarlo en video. Se llevan a cabo las dos misiones en sus cronogramas respectivos, aunque sin defectos y no como esperan. Finalmente, los dos grupos van a darse cuenta de lo que es lo más importante en la vida, es decir, la familia y todas las complicaciones que conlleva.
Angélica María, ya te he visto antes pero ¿dónde? Verificando en Google he confirmado que, de hecho, fue la mamá de Fedra y Rosalinda. Ay, ¡la nostalgia! Como la nueva malvada bruja de la familia de la Mora, sin embargo, deja mucho que desear. Aunque establece bien la loca que es la vieja, parece que Esperanza la joven (Tessa Ía) tenga más libertad con el desarollo del personaje. Respecto a la trama, una película es la mejor manera para volver a visitar nuestros personajes favoritas sin comprometerse a una nueva temporada que pueda salir bien como la primera o mal como la segunda. En conjunto, es muy divertida y graciosa como la primera temporada. También permite la interacción entre los personajes de las dos historias paralelas gracias a las transiciones fluidas de una escena a otra. Me encanta también el homenaje a Delia como la segunda matriarca de la familia. Si Manolo Caro piensa crear una cuarta temporada a lo mejor un salto de tiempo dos o tres décadas hacia el futuro será la mejor apuesta.
The Movie
Delia is about to succumb to a terminal illness and reveals something to Paulina regarding a lunch box hidden in a wall of their ex-house that could contain incriminatory evidence against Agustín. With the remote assistance of María José, the siblings and Diego hatch a plan to infiltrate the house and retrieve the lunch box given how the new owner, a strange old woman by the name of Esperanza (Angélica María), does not want to cooperate. In flashbacks of the 80’s it is revealed that Virginia, already married to Ernesto and with three kids in tow back then, was planning something similar during Salo’s wedding party to force Agustín to confess to Pato’s murder and record it on video. The two missions are carried out in their respective timelines, albeit not flawlessly and not how they expect. In the end, the two groups are going to realize what is the most important thing in life, namely family and all the complications that come along with it.
Angélica María, I’ve seen your before but where? Checking it out on Google I’ve confirmed that she was, indeed, the mom of Fedra and Rosalinda. Wow, the nostalgia! As the new wicked witch of the de la Mora family, though, she leaves a lot to be desired. Although she establishes the craziness of the old lady quite well, it appears that the younger Esperanza (Tessa Ía) has more leeway in developing the character. As for the premise, a movie is the best way to revisit the characters without having to commit to a new season which could turn out well like the first one or badly like the second. All in all, it is very entertaining and funny like the first season. It also allows interaction among the characters of the two parallel storylines thanks to the seamless transitions from one scene to the next. I also like the homage to Delia as the second matriarch of the family. Should Manolo Caro ever think of making a fourth season, perhaps a time jump two or three decades in the future would be the best bet.
