Me faltan. Me gustan. Abril = TOPIK 1; Mayo = DELE C1; Junio = CPE; Octubre = TOPIK 2; Noviembre = DAPLE; Diciembre = JLPT 5.

Tal vez aprender a bailar. ¡Escribir! Ir de marcha con amigos. Enamorarme. VIAJAR.

Bienvenido, 2012. ¡Que lo pasemos bien!

January has come and once again it is that time of the year to make resolutions. It appears that everyone has a list but actually doing them is another issue altogether. Most of the time they just remain as such. Resolutions. And so? It does not matter if I turn mine into reality or not. What I would like to do now is share them with you because I have a blog. Reasons. Truth be told, 2011 has been a very good year for me and I could not help but ask why. You see, I am evil. There are tons of individuals on this planet who deserve the good things coming my way better than I do. Still, if there is one thing I have learned about life, it is that asking questions is pointless. One way or another, you would end up knowing the reasons. In due time. No need to rush.

I have done many crazy things in 2011 that could have given my mother a heart attack, except that she does not really have a heart condition. I do not regret anything that is already said and done. The point is, 2011 taught me how to live, and how I wish I could maintain such optimism this year. Well, I have never welcomed the new year with such great enthusiasm. Perhaps that is a good sign.

Well, well, well. Let us recall the highlights of 2011!

Fine, it does not seem too interesting. It involves mostly travel! Well, it seems like that is my new motto: Live to travel! It would have been awesome if I went to Europe instead and practiced my European languages but hey, Asia was not bad at all! Being able to observe their way of living gave me a new way of viewing the world. Hearing their languages and understanding nothing only gave me the motivation I need to reboot my adventure in Korean, Japanese, and Mandarin. I love this part of Asia and I am so going back there in 2012. I have already promised myself this.

And so, what are my plans for the new year?

1. Travel more – I already bought tickets for Singapore, Ho Chi Minh, and Tokyo. I am yet to cook up more travel plans but I would also love to try Busan and Jeju, and perhaps another China trip. The grand European escapade is not due until 2013. Proper planning and a lot of money are required for that one, hahaha! For this year I would like to improve my Korean, Japanese, and Mandarin, and going back there with a better grasp of these languages would be cool. There are many more provinces to visit here in the Philippines. Maybe I could reserve some weekends for them.

2. Obtain certificates – What certificates? Language certificates! I always say that I would do this or that exam but I never do! Well, I have no choice now. I need them. I want them. April = TOPIK 1; May = DELE C1; June = CPE; October = TOPIK 2; November = DAPLE; December = JLPT 5. All of these could be taken here in the Philippines except the DAPLE, which I have to take in Macau, and the CPE, in Hong Kong.

3. Earn more dough – Money, money, money! It is for the future and for all the things I would like to do this 2012. I would obviously have to save up as much as enjoy. Nobody knows what would happen in 2013 and it is better to be prepared than sorry. Nothing comes for free. The big problem would be time. I would be the happiest man alive if only time could be bought. Like, seriously.

4. Master my languages – For European languages except German, I have decided to stop reading grammar books. Please! There has not been any progress lately for being so stubborn. I believe that there are alternatives in order to improve my languages, alternatives such as listening to the radio, reading the news and other stuff that have nothing to do with grammar, and have a chat with polyglot friends on Skype. For the three East Asian languages I have no other option but to study grammar. It has always been the case for me. I just could not speak a language that I could not read. Aside from that, I am also planning to enroll in language classes.

5. Live – or better yet, do interesting and challenging things that would make me feel alive and brimming with excitement. Of course, travel is a given. Maybe a makeover? HAHAHA. Sing more. I do not have to be a good singer, I just have to express myself in a different way. Learn to dance, perhaps? Write! Go out with friends. Fall in love (t@ng ina, talaga lang?). TRAVEL. And more roller coasters!

It is time to toss the past out of the window. Welcome, 2012! Party party!
