4. Beloved

Unbeknownst to Gravik, G’iah already called first dibs on his Harvest machine, injecting herself with Extremis before he shot her. She quickly recovers and meets up with her father, asking him what his plans are, of which she is not convinced. Fury has bugged his wife’s phone before she meets up with Rhodey who is revealed to be a Skrull. He orders her to get rid of Fury. As husband and wife have a heart-to-heart talk, they end up shooting at each other but intentionally missing, a sign that their loyalty remains with one another. He warns her that her kind will be coming back at her for such betrayal. She tells him she is always ready. US president Ritson (Dermot Mulroney) arrives for high-level talks and is ambushed by Gravik who now displays accelerated healing powers as well as that of Groot’s. Talos is shot and later stabbed in the chest by Gravik disguised as a soldier. Fury reluctantly leaves him for dead as he prioritizes the safety of the president.

Is Talos really dead or did he get an Extremis shot too? Highly unlikely. Besides, the way his character has been framed in the last few episodes clearly hinted on him not surviving this ordeal. It is safe to say that guy got fridged so that G’iah could get enough motivation to shape up for revenge. After all, she is super now, ain’t she? In the end, this will be a Gravik vs. G’iah showdown. Knowing that Fury will be in The Marvels before the end of the year, we are confident that he will not die in this show. All I want to know now is what the political repercussions will be. This entire Secret Invasion storyline was a universal event in the comics involving almost everyone. Thinking that things will unfold similarly here is wishful thinking, though. They just don’t have the budget for that. So perhaps it is safe to assume that all of this will end with some Skrull on Skrull violence until they can all reach some sort of compromise. As to what that compromise is, we’ll get our answers soon with just two episodes left.
