There seems to be no other option when it comes to cheap
accommodation here in Dili. Booking with East Timor Backpackers was easy
because they were quick to respond to my queries online. As for payment, you do
it upon arrival. Do not expect much because the rooms are quite cheap, although
you would be getting way better ones for the same price in other parts of
Southeast Asia. A dorm bed costs USD12, while a single room is USD20. As usual,
I forgot to take pictures of the room and the toilet, which means we would now
be relying on your powers of imagination.
The dorm room is simple. There are three single beds
immediately to your right upon entering the door. On the other side of the room
is a double deck next to a table. Next to it is another double deck which
serves as a divider. Next to that is another double deck next to the air-con.
One of the upper decks is next to the ceiling fan, which you might want to
avoid because it is not a very cute way to die. The bathroom has three toilets
and three showers. The reception doubles as a bar selling a variety of drinks.
The Wi-Fi is excruciatingly slow.
