How to Get Away with Murder (ABC): Episode 7

7. He Deserved to Die
Rebecca tells Wes that she just defended herself which led to the murder. Two weeks before, Annalise chastises her for making jokes about what really happened on the night of Stangard’s murder. The defense panel files a motion for a second autopsy, but the firm manages to convince the victim’s parents to object against it. The judge orders a second exhumation anyway. Annalise leads Rebecca on to violate the gag order and accuse Griffin of raping her to sabotage the defense’s impending plea deal. Connor tries to get over Oliver by hooking up with other guys. He tries to make amends but finds another guy in his apartment, who warns him to stay away. Michaela gets invited to come to a reputable firm thinking that she is getting an internship offer, but it turns out to be a prenup interview. Laurel contemplates on working for legal aide, but ends up making out with Frank. Nate approaches Rebecca and tells her they both know who killed Lila. The second autopsy reveals that she was six weeks pregnant at the time of her death.

Err, WTF was that juxtaposition of Stangard’s second autopsy and Wes and Rebecca’s make out session? Anyway, that doesn’t matter. That pregnancy revelation is more than enough to pin the murder motive on Sam, and it looks like his eventual murder was caused by him trying to get rid of Rebecca. It looks like the quarterback did not do it after all. And now it gets interesting. Given Annalise’s questionable morals and stubborn clinginess for her husband, how will she defend Rebecca? Too bad, Sam. The next time you murder someone, plan it well? Come to think of it, the only link that gave him away is that damn wallpaper at their house. Wallpaper FTW? And yeah, everyone’s hooking up in this episode. Hormones much? Love, love, lust. How potent is this combination that almost everyone is willing to be manipulated for its sake? But I like this twist, it makes the characters more human. Annalise is the best example. Here you thought she was all super defense attorney and shit, but no. She still trembles at the first sign of trouble.

“Prayers are for the weak, I’ll stick to beating your ass in court.” –Annalise Keating
