HO CHI MINH: 04 - Lofi Inn Saigon

Lofi Inn Saigon is a five-story townhouse of sorts located at that road adjacent to Pham Ngu Lao, the main backpacker’s area here in Ho Chi Minh. You only have to walk less than five minutes to get there, so location is not really an issue. Just like the other accommodations next to it, this guesthouse chose to go higher than wider, which means there is a high possibility that you will get a room on the upper floors. They have no elevator, by the way. If you have restrictions in relation to this, you might want to reconsider.

I booked a bunk bed on one of their eight-bed dormitories. The first night was shared with two Brits. Two more Brits and a Dutch joined us the next day. As with any other dorm-type accommodation, the problem here would be the people you are with. Since the room is shared, you would be prone to waking up in the middle of the evening because someone is fixing his or her stuff, or getting something from the locker. In this case, that would be me, HAHAHA. But then again, for a nightly price of USD7, you can really not complain.

The place is neat, and cleaning the rooms is a regular thing done daily at around noon. Lockers are provided in the room but are not big enough for a big backpack. Just store the important belongings and stash your knapsack on your bed. The fifth floor has a mini lounge with a flat screen TV and two desktops free for use. There is also a veranda which commands a good view of the street below. The only complaint I have against this guesthouse is the intermittent internet connection. Other than that, this is among the best I have ever been considering the price.
