Me
hermanita. Al fin de cuentas son hermanas, no? Es triste que Rubí no cuente con
ella. Pues, como ella dice, son muy distintas.

Episode 10

The
families of Hector and Maribel meet at her house to celebrate their engagement.
And so Rubí and Alejandro also meet, and it is clear that the evening would not
end without the two of them exchanging loaded but veiled dialogues. Rubí almost
dies of envy upon hearing that Maribel and Hector are going to Europe for a few
months. Alejandro is still angry at Rubí and confronts her more than once,
resulting in long arguments between the two. Cristina continues worrying about
their mother and tries to be closer to her sister so that Rubí would know that
she could count on her, but she tells her that it is almost impossible because
they are so different in many ways. Don Genaro declares for the first time that
he has another family but no one else aside from his secretary knows. Don
Ignacio recalls the accident that took the life of his wife, and her daughter’s
leg.

This
episode bored me a little because almost three quarters of it is about the
dinner at Maribel’s house. What I liked though were the lines that Rubí and
Alejandro were throwing at each other. In each episode I always anticipate what
quotable quote Rubí would be dropping, and she never disappoints me. In this
episode it seems that Alejandro also has opted to use such loaded words, and it
is somehow amusing to see Rubí getting caught off-guard, although most of the
time she has a more lethal reply. Poor Cristina! I agree that she speaks as if
she were some hard core saint, but one can see her intentions in getting closer
to her little sister. After all, they are sisters, right? It is sad how Rubí
does not confide in her. Well, as she says, they are very different in more
ways than one.
