Capítulo 1
Bella

“No,
Episode 1
Beautiful
and ambitious, Rubí is able to attend a private school thanks to a partial
scholarship and to her hardworking sister Cristina, who has just lost her job. Her best
friend is Maribel, the rich classmate who suffers from a disability on her leg.
While Maribel prepares to face the arrival of her “boyfriend” Hector, whom she
is yet to meet personally, Rubí, on the other hand, has to deal with financial
problems. They would not allow her to take an exam because she has not paid her
dues yet. When she discovers the said problem, Maribel talks to her father and
convinces him to help her friend. Rubí treats Maribel as a true friend, but
deep inside she is truly jealous of the good life that she has.
In
my opinion this pilot episode is very successful in that it establishes a solid
story about the struggle of a woman so beautiful and ambitious as she is “evil”.
It is evident that it is going to be a soap opera that you would never forget.
It is just that the world of soap operas is so full of stories that are no
longer so en vogue, of incredibly beautiful women without money and remain as
such, waiting for a rich man to rescue them. Even Rubí deals with this theme,
but what’s fascinating is the way by which she deals with all these dilemmas.
Instead of crying and plotting revenge like other women in a typical soap
opera, Rubí uses her head and opts for alternatives that just annoy everyone.
She is, perhaps, a witch, but her shrewdness is something very interesting that
you do not see that often on television.
